Sintra marks European Mobility Week with initiatives for everyone

European Mobility Week 2026 will be marked in the municipality of Sintra between September 16 and 22, under the European theme "Mobility for all – Justice between generations" and the slogan "Sintrenses in Motion". The Municipality of Sintra promotes this event with the aim of encouraging the use of public transport, pedestrian and cycling mobility and shared mobility solutions.

The program kicks off on September 16, at Casa da Cultura Lívio de Morais, in Mira Sintra, with the launch of the week and the "Sintra Green Experience", which presents experimentation and awareness activities for sustainable mobility between 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM. At 5:30 PM, an Intergenerational Walking Tour takes place bringing together school community members, senior population, nursing homes and local associations.

On September 19, at 3:30 PM, the "Kidical Mass Sintra" takes place, a bike ride starting from Vila Palace, in Sintra, and arriving at Ouressa Municipal Park, in Mem Martins. The initiative is open to children, young people, families and the general public. The program culminates on September 22, European Car-Free Day, with a "School Bike Bus" at the Ferreira de Castro School Grouping.

The program also includes experiences with bicycles and other vehicles, Ecokart's EcoVoltas, "Grandma Isabel Nabiça's Stories", the "Maximum Sustainable Mobility Games" and a Crisanima wheel "Bicicadeira". Three trishaws from Pedalar Sem Idade will provide rides for students with special educational needs and older family members. The initiatives run until October 11, with a new edition of Kidical Mass in Colares.
