The Saint Joseph's Procession takes place next Sunday at 4:00 PM through the main arteries of the city of Póvoa de Varzim, including Avenida Mousinho de Albuquerque, Rua da Junqueira, Passeio Alegre and Avenida dos Banhos. The event is promoted by the Parish of São José de Ribamar and marks the highlight of the celebrations in honor of Saint Joseph, with the streets decorated with the traditional flower carpets.
This religious manifestation is considered one of the most anticipated moments by the local community. The procession had an interregnum of 61 years, having returned to the streets in 2014 after a long pause.
Since its return in 2014, the Saint Joseph's Procession has continued to attract thousands of faithful to the northern area of the city, keeping alive a tradition of great religious and cultural significance for the population of Póvoa de Varzim.
