The president of the Brazilian Bar Association in the Federal District (OAB-DF), Paulo Maurício Siqueira, opened an ethical-disciplinary proceeding against the partners of Barci & Barci Advogados, the law firm of the wife and children of Justice Alexandre de Moraes, of the Supreme Federal Court (STF). The proceeding targets lawyer Viviane Barci de Moraes, the justice's wife, and the couple's children, lawyers Alexandre Barci de Moraes and Giuliana Barci de Moraes.
Also involved in the proceeding is the justice's sister-in-law, Ana Cláudia Consani de Moraes, as well as another lawyer partner at the firm. The case comes to light after the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) rejected an action that questioned the law partnership of Moraes' family members.
In a statement, the Barci & Barci firm said it regrets that "matters already analyzed and archived by the PGR are being used in an electoral context at the OAB/DF." The text also awaits the president of the entity reconsidering his statements and providing the necessary clarifications, warning about the adoption of appropriate measures.
The decision was communicated by Siqueira during the evening, marking the first formal action by OAB-DF regarding the case involving the family of the STF justice.
