The Matosinhos Court today acquitted a former coordinator of Civil Protection from the Santo Tirso City Council and a former municipal veterinarian of more than 230 crimes of animal abuse. The defendants were acquitted after the court considered that the facts were not proven during the trial.
The crimes the defendants were suspected of were related to alleged animal abuse within the scope of their municipal duties. The acquittal decision was based on the insufficiency of evidence presented by the Public Ministry during the process.
The trial took place at the Matosinhos Court, where the evidence relating to the accusations was analyzed. The acquittal means that the court did not find sufficient grounds to convict the two defendants of the crimes they were accused of.
