Why Fachin cancelled the STF plenary session amid a war of decisions

oglobo9 September 2026 at 15:32

The president of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), Edson Fachin, cancelled the plenary session that was scheduled to begin at 2 PM this Wednesday. The cancellation occurred amid a judicial dispute between members of the court.

The so-called "war of decisions" involved a conflict between the STF ministers themselves. Hours before the cancellation, Minister Flávio Dino, from the Superior Court of Justice (STJ), reversed a decision by Minister André Mendonça, from the STF, which had removed Andrei Rodrigues from the head of the Federal Police.
