The City Council of Celorico awarded School Merit Prizes to 40 students from the municipality. The program recognizes the best students who completed their studies at the two highest levels of the Portuguese educational system.

The prizes consist of 250 euro vouchers for each of the distinguished students. The 20 best students who completed the third cycle of studies, corresponding to the 9th year, and the 20 best students who completed secondary education, corresponding to the 12th year, were included.

The overall support from the local authority for this initiative amounts to 10,000 euros. The selection and ranking of the students included is communicated and determined according to criteria established for this purpose.

Notebooks of the West – Chronicles of a country between the law, custom and reality

A proposal from the Portuguese section of Transparency International, led by João Ribeiro, suggests the criminalisation of "cunha" (using connections) in Portugal, creating a new crime called "undue intermediation for access to public decision-making", punishable by up to three years in prison. The proposal, sent to parliamentary parties in July, aims to distinguish between legitimate contact with public officials and the use of personal, family or institutional relationships to obtain undue advantages in public decisions. The text warns that the measure cannot become a "forest of forms" and that the real challenge will be ensuring that citizens without contacts have the same possibilities as those who know decision-makers, defending that the revolution will be making cunha unnecessary.

The spokesperson for the Popular Parliamentary Group, Ester Muñoz, accused Sánchez of having "lied" for a month about the management of the migratory avalanche in the Spanish city, doing so "without shame, without blushing, with alarming coldness and lack of empathy".
