Cegid and Silae announced on September 9th that they will proceed with a merger, creating a European tech player with an estimated enterprise value of 10 billion euros. The two French companies will unite their software platforms for accounting, taxation, finance and payroll processing.
If the deal goes through, the resulting company will be responsible for serving two million end clients and more than 15,000 accounting firms. Monthly, more than 15 million payslips will be issued across Europe.
The two companies stated in a joint statement that the merger will create one of the most important European tech leaders, offering a fully integrated and compliant platform to meet the financial and administrative needs of clients.
Christian Lucas, chairman of Cegid and Silae and managing partner at Silver Lake, explained that the merger marks the culmination of a decade-long journey and that together the companies can offer a unique set of AI-based software and products serving European SMEs. Silver Lake has been a long-term investor in both companies, supporting the transformation of two French leaders into European champions.
