SANAS-Madeira issued a statement strongly criticizing the behavior of a swimmer who risked his life in the sea on the north side of the island. The institution refers to the incident as "another negligence" and condemns the fact that the swimmer also endangered the lives of the rescue teams.
The alert was received yesterday at 18:36 at the SANAS lifeboat station in Porto Moniz, which promptly activated emergency procedures after being informed about the possible presence of a person in distress.
The SANAS-Madeira statement emphasizes the irresponsibility of this type of behavior, which not only puts lives at risk but also requires the mobilization of rescue resources for situations that could have been avoided.
Authorities and SANAS continue to alert to the need to respect safety rules in the coastal areas of the north of the island of Madeira, where sea conditions can be particularly dangerous.
