The municipality of Setúbal awarded funding of 175 thousand and 165.50 euros to a total of 47 sports clubs and associations from the application process. The applications were submitted and approved between May 27 and June 12, under the Municipal Program for Supporting Sports Development Plans. The council highlights that these organizations promote quality development plans in sports training for young people, respecting principles of equality and universality.
The program, created in 2016 as part of Setúbal's distinction as European City of Sport, functions as a strategic public policy instrument aimed at ensuring transparency, equity and rigor in the allocation of financial support. It is intended for non-profit associations and clubs that develop regular sports activities in the municipality with regularized tax status.
The Setúbal Municipal Council also approved the signing of a tripartite protocol to ensure the Family Support Component for students in the 1st cycle of the Viso Basic School. The protocol involves the council, the Lima de Freitas School Grouping and AI9.PT – Portuguese Association for Innovation and Social and Digital Entrepreneurship.
The Family Support Component provides supervision activities for students before and after the curricular components and Curricular Enrichment Activities, also operating during school holiday periods. The council provides the facilities and covers expenses such as water and electricity, while AI9.PT ensures daily operations and permanent supervision of the children.
