The Government created a new working group dedicated to the prevention and combat of child, early and forced marriages. This initiative comes within the scope of a broader effort to address practices that especially affect girls and women.
The working group will also focus on female genital mutilation and so-called honour crimes, themes that are associated with serious forms of gender-based violence and human rights violations.
This new body will have a deadline of 182 days to analyse the current situation and present a set of concrete measures to strengthen the prevention and combat of these practices in the country.
The creation of this working group demonstrates the Executive's intention to give greater visibility and priority to these issues, which continue to represent significant challenges for the protection of children's and women's rights.
