A 31-year-old man attempted to steal sunglasses from a traditional retail store in Guimarães in a case that occurred recently. The item in question had a value of approximately four euros, constituting a petty theft.
When the suspect was confronted by the store owner, he reacted aggressively and threateningly. The man pulled out a large knife to intimidate the establishment's owner, turning the initial robbery into a situation involving a bladed weapon threat.
Police authorities were called to the scene after the incident. The suspect was eventually arrested by security forces, now facing charges related both to the theft and the threat committed against the merchant.
