The "Wings of Self-Esteem" initiative supported 15 women with cancer in recovering self-love during and after the illness. Leandro Mestre, after studying the impact of breast cancer, concluded that more than 50% of people suffer significantly with self-esteem issues, which motivated him to create this activity.
The action was carried out in partnership with Kontrast Academy, which made the space available and helped reduce the training costs. The program included training on wig washing, personal care and a makeup session to teach participants how to apply makeup and use scarves in different ways.
The goal was to provide "an afternoon that would allow these women to gain some extra points in their self-esteem and that, when looking in the mirror, they would feel beautiful," as Leandro Mestre explained to VTM.
Among the participants, there were women with particularly difficult stories, including one who faced four cancers and another who received the diagnosis after her husband's death. Leandro Mestre highlighted that "their smile was what made it all worth it."
