The President of the Portuguese Medical Association, Carlos Cortes, warned of the impact that the strike by pre-hospital emergency technicians at INEM, scheduled for September, may have on the Portuguese population. The Association expressed concern about the risks this stoppage may pose to emergency medical services.
Carlos Cortes defended that, during the strike period, assistance to the population must be guaranteed, considering this an essential condition for any negotiation process. The President highlighted the importance of ensuring emergency responses to citizens even in the context of labor conflict.
The Portuguese Medical Association thus reinforces its position of defending users of the health system, warning the competent authorities of the need to find solutions that protect patients and guarantee access to emergency care during the stoppage.
