Serbia's President, Aleksandar Vucic, dissolved parliament and called early legislative elections for October 25. The decision was made this Wednesday and aims to bring forward the electoral cycle in the country.
The measure comes amid intense political unrest in Serbia, fueled by anti-government protests that began after the collapse of a structure at the Novi Sad train station, a city in the north of the country, in November 2024.
The protests have as main demands the accountability of those responsible for the tragedy, which resulted in 16 dead, as well as the fight against corruption in the country.
