Government extends extraordinary agricultural diesel support until the end of the year

Correio da Manhã9 September 2026 at 13:17

The Council of Ministers held this Wednesday in Bragança its balance sheet, where the extension of extraordinary support for agricultural diesel until the end of the year was announced. This decision aims to continue supporting the national agricultural sector facing the economic-financial challenges that producers face.

The extraordinary support for agricultural diesel had been previously implemented as a measure to mitigate production costs in the primary sector. With this extension, farmers will continue to benefit from more favorable conditions in accessing this fuel essential to agricultural activity.

The announcement was made in the context of the Council of Ministers' trip to Bragança, the city that hosted this weekly government meeting. This is one of several itinerant meetings that the executive has been holding across the country to mark decentralized presences.

This extension of support is part of a broader government strategy to support the Portuguese agricultural sector, which has been facing significant pressure on production costs, particularly regarding fuels used in agricultural activities.
