Nuno Morna, former deputy to the Legislative Assembly of Madeira, defended the creation of a maritime connection that integrates Madeira, Azores and Canaries. The former parliamentarian believes that creating stops is one of the necessary conditions to make a sustainable ferry operation between these regions.
Morna's proposal is based on an articulation between the three outermost regions and a model that has cargo transport as the main economic component. The objective would be to create a service that would benefit trade and logistics between these territories.
Morna highlighted that, in 2024, while still serving as deputy, questions were discussed regarding the viability of this type of maritime connection and the need to find models that would make the project economically sustainable.
