Lina Pereira, president of JPP, concluded the parliamentary sessions dedicated to the ferry and territorial continuity with criticism of the Government. The party leader considered that the executive does not treat the maritime connection between Madeira and the mainland as a priority.
During her speech, Lina Pereira argued that the connection should be analyzed as a matter of public service and collective interest, and should not be evaluated solely according to commercial profitability criteria. This position reflects JPP's perspective on the importance of connectivity for the autonomous region.
The president of JPP also stated that the feasibility study presented does not demonstrate the unfeasibility of the connection, but only its lack of commercial profitability in the six defined scenarios. This analysis supports the party's argument against the governmental decision.
Lina Pereira promised to maintain pressure on the executive, continuing to fight for the maintenance and enhancement of the ferry connection between Madeira and continental Portugal.
