Councilman Hélio Silva (Cidadania), president of Sumaré City Council, in the interior of São Paulo, was temporarily arrested on Wednesday morning, the 9th, during Operation Archimagus, which investigates a drug trafficking scheme in the region. Silva is on leave from the legislative body to run for a seat as federal deputy in this year's elections.
In total, the operation carried out ten search and seizure warrants and two temporary arrests in Campinas, Sumaré, and Vinhedo, in São Paulo, and Jacutinga, in Minas Gerais. Among the addresses visited is a farm that, according to the investigation, may have been used to store narcotics. The other arrest warrant was carried out against a man in Paulínia.
The investigation, conducted by the Federal Police, points to evidence of involvement in different stages of the trafficking chain: financing for the purchase of drugs, storage, and distribution of narcotics to sales points in Sumaré. Investigators are also examining the possible use of properties to move the scheme.
