The heart of D. Pedro IV may return to be displayed to the public in the city of Porto. The relic is currently kept at the Church of Lapa, one of the most emblematic religious monuments in the city.
The possibility of a new exhibition arises after a display held in 2022, which is said to have attracted public interest. This is not the first time the heart of the former Portuguese king has been presented outside its usual place of rest.
D. Pedro IV, who reigned from 1826 to 1828 and was also emperor of Brazil, is a historical figure of great importance to Portugal. His ashes are in the National Pantheon, in Lisbon, but his heart was kept separately as a relic.
