Petrol and diesel prices have already exceeded 2 euros, directly affecting Portuguese consumers. The consumer defense organization DECO PROteste expressed opposition to this situation and advocated for more comprehensive measures from the Government.
DECO PROteste considered that the Government should go beyond the so-called fiscal neutrality, meaning it should not limit itself to absorbing increases through tax adjustments. The organization argued that the Government should directly assume part of the effort through public expenditure.
In this context, DECO PROteste called for a bigger cut in the excise duty on fuel, the ISP, which is the tax levied on fuels. Additionally, the organization advocated for the implementation of direct support for families to mitigate the impact of these increases on household budgets.
