Accused of R$5,600 scam is confronted by victim on cruise trip she had paid for and been excluded from

extra9 September 2026 at 12:44

Vanessa Phillips, a resident of Louisiana (USA), met Armonte Domious Wilson during a cruise in December 2025. After they became friends, she booked a new ship trip through the Caribbean at his request, paying US$1,100 (about R$5,600) to secure Armonte's spot on the MSC Seascape luxury mega-ship, which would depart from Galveston (Texas) on August 30 and return on September 6.

According to Vanessa, she discovered that her reservation had been canceled and that her money had been used to finance the supposed friend's trip, without her being able to board. Given the situation, the American decided to buy a separate ticket to confront Armonte on board the ship.

On September 5, Vanessa found Armonte sitting in a hot tub aboard the MSC Seascape and confronted him directly. In a video posted on Facebook, she questioned: "Did you think I wasn't going to board? You took my US$1,100. Did you think I couldn't come? Where's my money?" scolding the man. The American stated that her intention was to make him confess to the scam.
