The General Court of the European Union rejected today an appeal by Russian businessman Roman Abramovich, upholding the sanctions to which he was subject. The decision maintains Abramovich subject to the restrictive measures imposed by the EU in the context of the conflict in Ukraine. The court considered that the grounds for the application of the sanctions are valid and there were no sufficient reasons to revoke the previous decision. This ruling represents another episode in the series of legal proceedings brought by Russian oligarchs against the sanctions imposed by the European Union.
