Faro hosts, between September 19 and 25, the second edition of the Summer Blue School, an intensive artistic training program dedicated to performance, the body and transdisciplinary practices. The initiative is part of the Summer Blue Festival programming line and is aimed at artists, performers, students, arts professionals and audiences interested in contemporary creation processes, proposing crossings between dance, theater, visual arts, voice and artistic experimentation. Registrations run until September 13, with workshops open to participants of any nationality and experience level, with a maximum of 20 people per workshop.
Under the motto "A Small Step for Humanity," the Summer Blue School brings together four creators responsible for four intensive workshops in different spaces across the city. André Uerba leads "Æffective Choreography," a workshop-audition that investigates the politics of intimacy and affect through the body, using somatic exercises, autobiographical narratives and vulnerability practices. British artist Julia Bardsley presents "Black Box Curiosities + Enchantments," a laboratory linked to the research project "The Abyss System." Flora Détraz leads "SCREAM," a proposal focused on the relationship between voice and movement, and Algarve visual artist Miguel Cheta presents "Archiving the Everyday," dedicated to the archive as an artistic practice.
On September 26, at 9:30 PM, Teatro das Figuras hosts "Æffective Choreography" by André Uerba, in a presentation integrated into the Dance Dance Dance Festival and directly linked to the workshop developed throughout the Summer Blue School. The organization notes that the performance investigates structures, politics and practices of intimacy, using a deliberately slow rhythm and a close relationship between performers and audience, where performers create a texture of sharing, not of display.
The Summer Blue School is organized by the Summer Blue Festival/casaBranca, in partnership with Teatro das Figuras, CAMADA – Centro Coreográfico, Lama Theater and the University of Algarve/Campus de Gambelas/FCSH/CIAC, with support from Turismo do Algarve.
