The president of the sea rescue organization Sanas, Frederico Rezende, denounced, through a press release, another negligence of a swimmer who yesterday afternoon risked himself in the sea near the São Jorge pools. According to the organization, the swimmer put not only his own life at risk, but also the lives of the rescue teams who had to intervene.
According to the same source, yesterday at 18h36, the Sanas lifeguard station in Porto Moniz received information that a person was in difficulty in the sea in front of São Jorge. The organization highlighted the dangers associated with this type of irresponsible behavior in the North Sea waters.
Frederico Rezende warned about the seriousness of such actions, which force rescue teams to expose themselves to dangerous situations to try to save people who voluntarily put themselves at risk. Sanas thus again appealed to the responsibility of swimmers and bathers to avoid practices that endanger their own lives and those of rescue professionals.
