Anderson Rodrigues Leite was arrested on Tuesday, suspected of attempting to kidnap a 16-year-old girl on the 4th of this month in Engenho Novo, North Zone of Rio de Janeiro. The victim had to jump from the man's car while it was in motion to escape the kidnapping.
The arrest mobilized teams from the 23rd Police Station (Méier), the 44th Police Station (Inhaúma), and the Anti-Kidnapping Division (DAS). The agents first managed to locate the suspect's car abandoned in a parking lot in Irajá, also in the North Zone of the state capital.
The vehicle's license plate was identified by Civitas Rio from images recorded at the time of the crime. With this information, authorities were able to track down and locate the suspect in São Pedro D'Aldeia, in the Lagos Region of Rio de Janeiro.
