An operation was launched on Wednesday to investigate a suspected group disclosing and selling abortifacients through social media profiles and messaging apps. The action was named "Fallen Angel" and is conducted by the Cybercrime Police Station (DRCI).
In addition to the commercialization of abortifacients, the investigation is looking into possible crimes of incitement and glorification of crime, as well as falsification, corruption, adulteration or alteration of products intended for therapeutic or medicinal purposes. Agents are carrying out search and seizure warrants against five targets.
The target addresses are in the neighborhoods of Campo Grande and Cosmos, in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro. The investigations began based on intelligence information about profiles used to secretly disclose and offer the products.
