PSP arrests man in Rio Tinto for domestic violence. Remanded in custody

On September 7th, the Criminal Investigation Division of the PSP in Porto proceeded with the arrest of a 31-year-old man in the parish of Rio Tinto, in the municipality of Gondomar. The arrest was carried out as part of a domestic violence case.

The operation was carried out under an Arrest Warrant issued to ensure the suspect's appearance for judicial questioning. The man was subsequently presented to the competent Judicial Authorities.

After the interrogation, the most severe precautionary measure, pre-trial detention, was applied to the defendant.

The PSP stated it will continue to prioritize the prevention, investigation, and combating of domestic violence crimes, maintaining a zero-tolerance approach and close proximity to communities, encouraging early identification, reporting, and breaking the cycle of violence.
