The Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro launched on Wednesday the operation dubbed "Fallen Angel," which targets a group suspected of disseminating and selling abortifacient medications through social media profiles and messaging apps.
The investigation, conducted by the Cybercrime Repression Division (DRCI), investigates possible crimes of incitement and glorification of crime, as well as forgery, corruption, adulteration or alteration of products intended for therapeutic or medicinal purposes.
The agents are executing five search warrants at addresses located in the neighborhoods of Campo Grande and Cosmos, in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro.
The diligences began based on intelligence information about profiles used to disseminate and clandestinely offer an abortifacient medication.
