ERS applies almost half a million euros in fines to health entities

The health regulator intensified its sanctioning intervention in the first six months of the year, with hundreds of processes concluded and more than 454 thousand euros in fines applied to public and private entities.

The Health Regulatory Authority focused its sanctioning activity during the first semester, having applied fines totaling more than 454 thousand euros. This value represents a significant increase in the regulator's intervention compared to previous periods.

The entities targeted by the fines include both public sector and private sector health institutions. The regulator did not specify which were the most frequent infractions or which establishments were specifically fined.

This reinforcement of ERS's sanctioning activity comes in a context of increased oversight of the health sector in Portugal, seeking to ensure compliance with regulatory standards by all entities operating in the health area.

Broadcom Recovers vSphere Standard After VMware Client Departure

Broadcom is relaunching VMware vSphere Standard as a simpler alternative to VMware Cloud Foundation, after losing clients who migrated to competitors like Proxmox VE, Nutanix, and Microsoft Hyper-V since the $69 billion acquisition in 2023. The company acknowledged that it focused too much on VCF, especially for small and medium businesses, offering more comprehensive packages than many clients wanted. The new vSphere Standard will serve companies that only need server virtualization and centralized administration, with per-core licensing, but pricing details have not yet been disclosed. Broadcom's challenge will be setting a competitive price to convince clients who have already migrated to return.
