Delegate William Marcel Murad took over interim command of the Federal Police on Tuesday, less than an hour and a half after the removal of Andrei Rodrigues, determined by Minister André Mendonça, of the Supreme Federal Court. Murad, who held the position of executive director of the PF since January 2025, is the immediate replacement for the director-general.
Described by members of the corporation's leadership as a technical figure, discreet and averse to politics, Murad is considered a trusted man of Andrei Rodrigues. He has prestige among colleagues thanks to accumulated experience in areas such as intelligence, technology and operational planning, maintaining little public exposure.
During the opening of the 63rd National Public Security Council, it fell to Murad to publicly defend the management of which he is part. At the event, he expressed explicit support for the removed chief, reaffirming total confidence in the directorate of the Federal Police.
Murad's quick reaction occurs in the context of the change of command at the institution, which was determined by the highest instance of the Brazilian Judiciary, evidencing the political and institutional relevance of the decision that removed Andrei Rodrigues from command of the corporation.
