The funeral of King Harald V of Norway takes place this Wednesday. Harald V died on December 29, 2024, at the age of 87, after a long reign of more than three decades.
Members of European royalty and representatives of international governments are expected in Oslo to participate in the funeral ceremony. The presence of figures from various royal houses demonstrates the international importance of the deceased monarch.
More than 40 thousand people passed through the royal chapel in the last week to pay tribute to King Harald V. The chapel was open to the public so that Norwegians could say goodbye to their monarch.
King Harald V ascended the throne in 1991, following the death of his father, Olav V. During his reign, he became a beloved figure both in Norway and abroad, known for his prolonged battle with cancer.
