On the afternoon of Monday, September 7, six people on board a recreational vessel required assistance off Praia dos Olhos de Água in the municipality of Albufeira, after the vessel lost propulsion. The alert was received at 4:40 PM through the vessel itself.
The crew of the Quarteira Lifeguard Station and members of the Faro Maritime Police Local Command were immediately mobilized to the scene. Upon arrival, the teams found that the six people were physically well and did not require medical assistance.
The vessel was subsequently escorted by the lifeguard station crew to Albufeira Marina. The skipper of the vessel was notified that he could only set sail again after undergoing an inspection to confirm the respective seaworthiness conditions.
The Faro Maritime Police Local Command took charge of the incident.
