Brussels publishes rules for local accommodation

Observador9 September 2026 at 07:42

Brussels unveiled a set of rules to regulate local accommodation, a measure aimed at addressing the growing challenges in the housing sector of the European capital.

The proposal is part of the European Affordable Housing Plan, demonstrating how the accommodation issue has become a priority at the European Union level.

The new rules will establish specific criteria to assess the so-called "housing pressure," allowing for a more objective analysis of the situation in each region or city.

Based on this assessment, the competent authorities will be able to intervene in a more targeted manner, regulating or restricting the operation of local accommodation platforms when necessary.
