Correio da Manhã9 September 2026 at 07:24

Six municipalities in the district of Faro are at maximum fire danger, according to the classification of the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere.

The Institute also placed 25 municipalities in other districts at very high fire danger. These municipalities belong to the districts of Santarém, Castelo Branco, Leiria, Portalegre, and Beja.

The maximum danger classification represents the highest level of fire risk, which implies weather conditions favorable to the rapid spread of fires.
