Player Hakim Ziyech arrived yesterday at Galeão Airport in Rio de Janeiro, greeted with a celebration organized by Botafogo fans, with a live broadcast on the club's YouTube channel. At 33 years old, the Moroccan is considered the main signing of this transfer window and is expected to undergo medical exams today at CT Lonier to sign a contract until the end of 2028.
In negotiations, Ziyech expressed the desire to take on a new challenge in Brazilian football, which was seen as a differential by Botafogo's management. The club celebrated a contract considered advantageous by the standards of major international signings.
The expectation is that the player will take the starting spot in attack and become the main name on the field, in addition to helping his teammates improve their performance. The athlete expressed excitement about the experience: "It's my first time in Rio, I don't know much about the city, but I'm anxious. Brazil is the first country you think about when it comes to football."
Ziyech brings with him vast international experience, including two World Cups (2018 and 2022), as well as a successful past at Ajax that led him to Chelsea, a club where he was unable to repeat the same performance.
