The armed forces of the United States announced having destroyed five Iranian oil tankers, in an escalation of tension in the Middle East region. The action was said to be a response to missile attacks targeting an American warship.
In retaliation, Iran's Revolutionary Guard stated it had struck a US military base located in Jordan. This attack marks an intensification of the conflicts between the two countries.
The Jordanian army, for its part, communicated having intercepted and shot down 18 Iranian missiles before they reached its territories. The authorities of Jordan did not wish to clarify whether the targets of the missiles were American military installations or other objectives in the country.
