Vasco drew 0-0 with Santa Fe, from Colombia, in the quarter-finals of the Copa Sul-Americana. The result was considered fair by Portuguese coach Pedro Emanuel, who acknowledged that both teams missed good goal-scoring opportunities during the match.
Pedro Emanuel praised the performance of the mixed squad used in the match, highlighting that the team managed to stay focused and alive in the game. The coach acknowledged that there was some tiredness in the second half of the game, but valued the team's display which, despite the conditions, showed freshness and availability.
The coach revealed that Vasco had two clear goal situations in the second half, one with Spinelli and another with Bruno, while Santa Fe created two good opportunities from consecutive corner kicks. With the result, Vasco takes the return match back to Rio de Janeiro next week with everything still to play for.
Pedro Emanuel maintains that Vasco is very much alive in all three tournaments they compete in and that the team achieved the intended result, remaining competitive for the return match.
