Vasco drew 0-0 with Santa Fe, from Colombia, in the quarterfinals of the Copa Sul-Americana, in a match held in Colombia. The result was considered fair by Portuguese coach Pedro Emanuel, who stated that both teams missed good goal-scoring opportunities during the match.
Pedro Emanuel praised the performance of the mixed squad used in the match, highlighting that the team managed to stay focused and alive throughout the match, placing themselves in good conditions for the second leg in Rio de Janeiro. He mentioned there was some fatigue in the second half of the game, but that the team presented themselves fresh and available despite the circumstances.
The coach pointed out clear goal-scoring opportunities created by Vasco in the second half, citing chances from Spinelli and Bruno, while acknowledging that Santa Fe also had two good opportunities from consecutive corner kicks. Therefore, according to him, the 0-0 result should be accepted.
Pedro Emanuel stated that the objective of taking the decision to the second leg with everything still open was achieved, expressing confidence in Vasco's competitiveness in the three tournaments the team is involved in. The second leg will be played next week in Rio de Janeiro.
