Hakim Ziyech landed at Galeão Airport in Rio de Janeiro around 7:30 PM this Tuesday, about to sign a contract with Botafogo until December 2028. The forward was greeted with a celebration by the black-and-white fans about 2 hours and 30 minutes after his arrival, spending time at the Federal Police immigration before being received by the fans.
In an interview with BotafogoTV, Ziyech said he was excited about the transfer, saying it was his first time in Rio and he does not know the city very well, but he is anxious. He highlighted that Brazil is the first country that comes to mind when talking about football, classifying the experience as something that deeply touches him.
At 33 years old, the forward will join Botafogo's squad after terminating his contract with Wydad Casablanca, a club from his birth country. Born in the Netherlands but naturalized Moroccan, Ziyech will undergo medical exams at CT Lonier on Wednesday and, if approved, will officially sign the contract with the black-and-white team.
