Lech Poznan were crowned champions of the Ekstraklasa with 60 points, securing the Polish league title.
In the qualifying phase of the Champions League, however, the Polish team was eliminated by AGF Aarhus, missing out on the main European club competition.
After the Champions elimination, Lech Poznan had to go through a long journey in the Europa League, needing to win four games to reach the group stage of the competition.
This conquest through the "side door" represents an alternative path for the Polish club in the European season, after failing to gain direct access to the Champions.
