About to sign with Botafogo, Ziyech arrives in Rio with celebration from the black-and-white fans

Hakim Ziyech arrived in Rio de Janeiro this Tuesday, around 7:30 PM, at Galeão Airport, and was welcomed with a celebration by the black-and-white fans. The 33-year-old forward is about to sign a contract with Botafogo until December 2028, after terminating his contract with Wydad Casablanca, a club from his country of birth.

Ziyech will undergo medical tests at CT Lonier this Wednesday and, if approved, will officially sign the contract with Botafogo. Born in the Netherlands but naturalized Moroccan, the forward has played for major clubs in European football, including Ajax (2016-2020), Chelsea (2020-2023), Galatasaray (2023-2025), and Wydad Casablanca.

In Moroccan football, Ziyech accumulated 16 matches for Wydad Casablanca, with nine goals scored and two assists. The forward is also a veteran of two World Cups, having participated in the 2018 and 2022 tournaments. He was part of the Moroccan national team during the historic 2022 campaign, when Morocco reached the semifinals of the competition.
