The Santa Maria da Feira Municipal Council unanimously approved, this Monday, the final proposal for the 2nd revision of the Municipal Master Plan. The document increases building capacity for housing, commerce and services, reinforces by approximately 11% the areas designated for economic activities and programs new areas for expansion, equipment and infrastructure. The Mayor, Amdeu Albergaria, highlighted the political significance of a unanimous approval, with the favorable vote of all political forces represented – PSD, PS and Chega – in a document that will guide the municipality's development in the coming years.
In the housing area, the revision increases indices and reviews building criteria, creating greater construction capacity in urban areas. The new model identifies urban voids and defines rules for their consolidation, seeking to avoid scattered growth. In the economic dimension, the PDM provides for 15 new Economic Activity Spaces, corresponding to an increase of approximately 11% of these areas, ensuring capacity for the installation and expansion of companies.
The infrastructure development of 233 areas is also planned, through the creation or completion of roads and their respective networks, as well as the programming of areas designated for social, school, sports and recreational facilities. The environmental component assumes greater expression through an Urban Green Structure that articulates natural and semi-natural spaces and seeks to reinforce the territory's capacity to respond to climate phenomena.
The final version of the PDM results from a public discussion process with significant population participation. Between February 13 and March 27, 1,184 participations were submitted, with 62% of the weighted participations obtaining a favorable decision, total or partial. The public discussion included two clarification sessions, permanent technical assistance at municipal services and decentralized assistance in the parishes.
