The municipalities of Évora, Grândola and Serpa, in the Alentejo region, will receive a total of 84 thousand euros from the Fund for Mobility and Transport to support the development and execution of their respective Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans. The distribution of financing was authorized by Order No. 11042/2026, published in the Official Gazette. Grândola receives the largest share, with 41,250 euros, followed by Évora with 28,125 euros and Serpa with 14,625 euros.
The execution of the financing is divided between 2025 and 2026, with 16,348.50 euros corresponding to expenses incurred in 2025 and 67,651.50 euros planned for 2026. The support from the Fund for Mobility and Transport can co-finance up to 75% of eligible expenses, with the remaining portion being covered by the beneficiary municipalities.
The Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans are planning instruments that allow municipalities to structure an integrated strategy for the mobility of people and goods. These plans cover areas such as the public transport network, pedestrian and cycling mobility, parking, accessibility and the coordination between different transport modes.
The national allocation for this programme exceeds two million euros and is intended to support municipalities across the country in developing their mobility plans. In the Alentejo region, the three supported municipalities cover territories with distinct characteristics: Évora as the urban centre of Central Alentejo, Grândola in Coastal Alentejo and Serpa in Lower Alentejo.
