A 61-year-old man was arrested in the act by GNR in Matosinhos on September 6 for the alleged practice of hunting activities in non-hunting areas. The arrest occurred during an environmental inspection operation carried out by the Nature and Environment Protection Service (SEPNA) of the GNR of Matosinhos, in an area where hunting is not permitted.
During the operation, the military personnel seized a hunting weapon, three rounds of ammunition, the weapon registration document, and the hunting license. The man was named as a defendant and the facts were referred to the Department of Investigation and Public Prosecution (DIAP) of Matosinhos.
GNR reinforces that the practice of hunting activities in non-hunting areas is prohibited and can compromise the preservation of species and the balance of ecosystems. Compliance with the protection areas and the periods and locations defined for the exercise of hunting is also essential for the safety of those who travel through or carry out activities in rural spaces.
The case will now follow the legal procedures with the competent authorities.
