Judge Marcelo Mondego, responsible for Botafogo SAF's Judicial Recovery process at the 2nd Business Court of Rio de Janeiro, rejected on Tuesday the request made by John Textor to follow the process as an "interested party". With this decision, Textor remains removed from the club's judicial recovery. Financial market: what are 'defensive stocks'?

In the CBN Dinheiro program, specialist Marcelo d'Agosto explains the concept of defensive stocks in response to a question from listener Guilherme. According to him, defensive stocks are securities from companies operating in already consolidated sectors of the economy, such as electric energy companies, which require high initial investments to build plants and transmission networks, but then have approximately constant costs and revenues. Because they depend mainly on operational efficiency, these companies are less impacted by external factors that affect the economy in general. Thus, defensive stocks are presented as an alternative for investors seeking lower volatility and greater predictability in financial results.
