The investigation points to 35 thousand chicks dying in a single day at an industry located in the South of the country. The animals were less than 24 hours old.
The chicks were placed in machines with high-speed rotating blades, which performed the beak cutting of the animals. This procedure is known as debeaking and is common in the poultry industry to avoid cannibalism among birds. However, the method used at this industry would have caused the death of the animals. The case is being investigated by the competent authorities.
