Netanyahu's office denies receiving alert from UAE about Hamas attack

SIC Notícias8 September 2026 at 21:48

The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu categorically rejected the information that the United Arab Emirates had warned it about an imminent Hamas operation before the October 7, 2023 attack. According to Netanyahu's office, the news published by Haaretz does not correspond to the truth.

The information published by Haaretz provoked adverse reactions from the Israeli opposition, which criticized Netanyahu's government. The episode renewed calls from opposition sectors for the creation of an independent inquiry commission to investigate the circumstances surrounding the events of October 7.

The Hamas attack on October 7, 2023 represented one of the biggest security failures in Israel's history, resulting in hundreds of dead and hostages. Since then, the war in the Gaza Strip continues, with the conflict extending for months and generating growing international pressure for a ceasefire.

Ceuta crisis forces Spain to open secret files

The Spanish government declassified 40 confidential documents about the Ceuta migration crisis, covering the period between July 1 and August 1, when more than 72,000 people entered the enclave irregularly. Government spokesperson Elma Saiz stated that the files prove the absence of prior warnings from intelligence services about a mobilization of that magnitude, seeking to dispel suspicions of premeditated omission. The disclosure responds to pressure from the opposition, which points to negligence in Pedro Sánchez's management and suggests complicity with Morocco. More than two thousand unaccompanied children and young people remain under administrative custody, and the technical debate has been transferred to the Supreme Court and parliamentary committees.
