Justice André Mendonça of the Supreme Federal Court ordered on Tuesday (08) the removal of Federal Police Director-General Andrei Rodrigues from office. In the decision, Mendonça pointed out that he himself had been the target of illegal monitoring by the PF for approximately 30 days.
Presidential candidates commented on the decision. Flavio Bolsonaro (PL), Ronaldo Caiado (PSD), Romeu Zema (Novo), and Renan Santos (Mission) celebrated the measure. Augusto Cury (Avante) and Lula (PT) had not yet commented at the time of publication.
In a social media post, Flavio Bolsonaro called Andrei Rodrigues, among other epithets, a "henchman" of President Lula and stated that the PT member's "special group" within the PF had been "exposed."
Ronaldo Caiado classified the justice's decision as "correct" and highlighted that it reflects the strength of the institutions. He also criticized the alleged monitoring carried out by the PF against Mendonça.
