The exchange of accusations between Senator Wilder Morais (PL) and the mayor of Anápolis, Márcio Corrêa (PL), escalated and exposed the rupture between the two politicians in the midst of the campaign for the government of Goiás. Wilder Morais is the PL candidate for the Palácio das Esmeraldas (Governor's Palace), while Márcio Corrêa holds the mayoral office of Anápolis, the third largest city in the state.
The conflict began during a forum held by the Mais Goiás portal. On that occasion, Wilder Morais classified Corrêa as "right flavor," a reference to the mayor's declared support for Daniel Vilela, from the MDB, the main adversary of the PL candidate in the race for the state government.
In response, Márcio Corrêa launched a series of attacks against the senator. On Sunday (6), the mayor inaugurated in Anápolis a committee dedicated to the campaign of Flavinho Bolsonaro for the Senate, without Wilder Morais present. The event also featured material from candidates who oppose the senator within the right-wing field itself.
