President of ANAFRE joins National Commission preparing celebrations of the 50th anniversary of Municipal Elections

The president of ANAFRE – Association of Parish Municipalities, Francisco Branco de Brito, joins the Commission for the Celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the first democratic Municipal Elections. This commission will be responsible for defining and coordinating the official program of celebrations.

The initiative will take place over the course of a year and aims to mark five decades of democracy since the first municipal elections were held in Portugal. The commission shall also promote reflection on the role of local municipalities in the democratic system.

Francisco Branco de Brito represents Portuguese parishes in this celebration commission, reinforcing the importance of local municipalities in these commemorations. ANAFRE is the entity that represents parish associations at the national level.
